1. Yoast SEO (Freemium)
Optimizing your site for ranking on Google is very important. This ranges from page optimization to the optimization of posts.
Yoast offers most of the tools required to rank your page on Google search results. It also helps you add meta tags, generate sitemaps, connect your site to Google Search Console, optimize it for social media, and much more.
The best part of Yoast is that it detects your URLs automatically and updates them so you don’t have any broken links, something which helps search engines in ranking your site much better.
2. Elementor (Freemium)
This is one of my all time favorite plugins. This is mostly due to its out of the box optimization capabilities. In simple words, elementor lets you build your entire site by dragging and dropping elements!
The pro version gives you even much power over your theme. It allows you to customize your header, footer and even the blog posts page by creating custom templates. I can’t stress enough on how powerful elementor is. You just have to try it out to experience its design capabilities.
For instance, the following is a sample site built entirely using elementor page builder.
3. Monster insights (Freemium)
MonsterInsights is the best Google Analytics plugin for WordPress. This plugin makes your Google Analytics visible through your WordPress dashboard.
Through this plugin, you can optimize your website accordingly to increase your traffic, subscribers, and revenue. Monster insights has a free version but you will not experience its full potential until you upgrade to the premium version.
4. WP Rocket (Premium)
If your site is ridiculously slow with very low performance, Wp Rocket is the best bet for you. This plugin requires no technical knowledge to use it.
Wp Rocket automatically crawls and build your website cache which results in an instant performance boost.
It also automatically turns on recommended WordPress caching settings like page caching, gzip compression, and cache pre-loading. It also has some optional features such as CDN support, DNS pre-fetching, minification lazy loading of images and many other features which help in improving the page loading times.
This is the best caching plugin out there. The only caveat is that it only exists in premium, meaning you can only use it after purchasing it.
5. UpdraftPlus (Freemium)
UpdraftPlus is the most efficient wordpress backup plugin. It allows you to schedule automatic backups and safely store them on a remote location like Google Drive, Dropbox, S3, Rackspace, FTP, email, and more.
It also simplifies the restoration process of your website. The free version is pretty decent but they also offer a premium version with advanced features and reliable support.
6. Sucuri (Free)
Website security is something most people take for granted, until they get hacked and realize it is a real threat. This WordPress plugin guards against hacking with real-time monitoring and protection. It also has firewall protection, DDoS prevention, malware scan, blocking, login security, and many other features.
Just from the analysis of our security report from sucuri, it has prevented numerous DDoS and bruteforce attacks on our servers.
7. Google XML site maps (Free)
Besides from Yoast SEO, Google XML Sitemaps is also a very useful SEO plugin for WordPress. The plugin helps search engines like Google to better index your site with a special XML sitemap.
The plugin automatically creates an XML sitemap for your site making it easy to index. An XML sitemap enables the search engine bots to view the complete structure of your website and retrieve the search results more efficiently.
8. Akismet (Freemium)
Akismet is one of the default plugins of WordPress that comes with every new WordPress installation. It is an anti-spam plugin which checks all comments and filters out the spammy comments. It can also prevent users from submitting multiple comments at once.
The plugin provides a status history for each comment so that you can learn which comments were found spammy by Akismet. Moderators can also view the number of approved comments for each user, see the URLs in the comment body and remove the suspicious links.
The plugin is free for the personal site and blogs while for commercial sites, there is a monthly subscription.
9. WP smush (Freemium)
Images have an important role to play in the visual appeal of your posts to users.
If not well managed, images can take up a lot of storage space and slow down your website. You can however overcome this challenges through the compression of your images. Some people prefer to compress them before uploading them, which is also a good thing.
WP Smush plugin allows you to compress and reduce the size of the image without compromising on the quality. Some websites such as compress PNG/JPG also offer the same services.
WP Smush optimizes all of your image files in JPEG, GIF and PNG formats using advanced compression techniques and saves lots of storage space.
It also auto-smushes all your attachments on upload and you can also smush your attachments manually in the media library.
Sometimes you may need to add code snippets to your WordPress header or footer for verification, ads, or even optimization scripts.
Insert Headers and Footer plugin allows you to easily add code snippets to your WordPress site without editing your theme files.
This free plugin is extremely handy for the non-geeky people since it is very easy to use.
